YOUTHS RESCUED FROM WATER

At approximately 2:28 p.m. on Thursday August 10, 2006 the Hull Police Department responded to a call of youths screaming from the area of the Dike off of Newport Road and Nantasket Road. The nature of the problem was unknown at the time.

Hull Police officers responded and reported two youths in the water under the dike sluice gates; Officer Christine Chagnon entered the water and affected the rescue of two youths ages nine (9) and Ten (10). The youths, who had been fishing at the time, had entered the water to rescue a dog that had become trapped under the sluiceway by the current. However due to the swift current the youths were unable to swim out from under the dike, the dog was able to extricate itself. The youths were evaluated by Hull Fire Department at the scene and turned over to their parent who responded to the scene.  The Hull Police Department would like to thank the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police for responding to the incident.
